Vein Treatments in New York, NY

Spider and varicose veins are a common condition affecting approximately 30-60% of the adult population. They appear as fine red, purple or blue vessels, commonly on the legs. Genetics plays the largest role in the development of unsightly veins and the problem tends to get worse with aging. Other factors that exacerbate leg veins include pregnancy, menopause, hormone replacement therapy, obesity, and jobs that require prolonged periods of standing. Dr. Dennis Gross Dermatology strives to deliver the best treatment for varicose veins in New York City, Brooklyn Queens, and Staten Island with solutions like the V-Beam and Alexandrite lasers.

“Leg vein laser treatments are one of the newest laser advancements and it’s a game changer.”

– Dr. Dennis Gross

What Causes Leg Veins?

Just the sheer force of gravity on the legs may trigger varicose and spider veins over time. Sun exposure, hormonal changes (as during pregnancy or menopause—or if you’re taking birth control pills or other hormones), certain skin conditions like rosacea, obesity (which puts greater pressure on the veins in the legs), injury to that area, and aging can all trigger these broken veins to appear. Regularly crossing your legs while sitting can also put pressure on your veins—triggering varicose and spider veins over time. Genetics also plays a role: if spider or varicose veins run in your family, you’re more likely to develop them, too.

How Much Do Varicose Vein Treatments Cost in New York, NY?

Varisose veins treatment cost depends on many factors such as the best treatment option for you and how many treatment sessions you need to achieve the best results. To find out your individual cost, please contact us to schedule a consultation for a tailored treatment plan.

How Do I Get Rid of Leg Veins?

Depending on the type and severity of your leg veins, they can either be lasered or injected. If the veins are more varicose-like, we can refer you to a proper vein specialist for removal. This will be determined during your consultation.

Laser

Our leg-vein laser is highly effective and a great option for any spider veins on the legs and ankle areas. The laser coagulates the blood inside, causing it to collapse and seal up—all without damaging nearby skin, vessels, or tissue. There is immediate redness to the area, but results show once the redness subsides, instant gratification.

Sclerotherapy

Sclerotherapy is a liquid solution (generally a salt or saline-based product) that is directly injected into the vein. The solution causes the vessel to seal shut and blood flow is redirected to stronger, healthier veins. Results are immediate- some minor bruising is a common side-effect that usually subsides within a few days.

Is Vein Treatment a Permanent solution?

For certain veins that are caused by environmental factors (exercise, trauma, pregnancy), the laser and/or injections can be a permanent option. If you have more of a genetic predisposition to prevalent leg veins, treating them could be something we do a few times a year for prevention and maintenance.

Does Vein Treatment Hurt?

Both laser and sclerotherapy, surprisingly, are not super painful procedures, and the benefits are immediate and well worth it.

Is There Downtime Associated with Vein Treatment?

Sometimes after treating the vein, there can be slight bruising (nothing horrible), which will resolve within a few days. We generally recommend doing the treatment during the fall/winter months so this can’t pose an issue.
